Patrick Tighe is an American architect and educator. Tighe earned a M. Arch. degree from the University of California, Los Angeles (UCLA). He worked for Pritzker laureate Thom Mayne at Morphosis from 1993 to 2000.

Since 2004 he has operated his own firm, Patrick Tighe Architecture, located in Santa Monica, California.

Tighe is currently a professor adjunct at the University of Southern California (USC)[1] and has held teaching positions at Southern California Institute of Architecture (SCI-Arc)[2] and UCLA .

Tighe was awarded the Rome Prize in Architecture from the American Academy in Rome.[3] and in 2011 he was named to the College of Fellows of the American Institute of Architects. In 2013, Patrick Tighe Architecture was included in the Museum of Contemporary Art (MOCA) exhibition, A New Sculpturalism: Contemporary Architecture From Southern California.

Academics

Tighe began teaching at the University of Southern California in 2000 where he taught a design studio. He left the University of Southern California in 2003 to focus on starting his firm Patrick Tighe Architecture. In 2007 he began teaching at Southern California Institute of Architecture where he taught design studios. While at Southern California Institute of Architecture he served on the Admissions Committee, Scholarship Committee, and the NAAB Accreditation Committee. In 2013 he left Southern California Institute of Architecture to return to University of Southern California as an adjunct professor where he currently teaches design studio. Tighe has served as a guest juror for architecture reviews at numerous prestigious institutions including University of Cincinnati, Catholic University, Kansas State University, UCLA, California State Polytechnic University, Pomona, Woodbury University, University of Southern California, University of Massachusetts, Amherst, American Academy in Rome, Southern Polytechnic State University, California Polytechnic State University, and California College of the Arts.

Patrick TIGHE Architecture

In 2004 he founded his firm, Patrick Tighe Architecture. The firm has won over fifty major design awards including eight National American Institute of Architects Awards.[4] and is particularly noted for its work in affordable housing. The Sierra Bonita Affordable Housing and La Brea Housing projects both located in West Hollywood, California have received multiple design awards. Several of his residential designs have received numerous awards as well, most notably the Tigertail and Montee Karp projects. His firm focuses on contemporary architectural design and has built and proposed projects around the globe. The work at Patrick Tighe Architecture uses intense exploration of the complex social, cultural, political and technological issues to influence each project.
