The Parangana Power Station is a mini-hydro power station located in north-western Tasmania, Australia.
Technical details
Part of the Mersey–Forth scheme that comprises eight hydroelectric power stations, the Parangana Power Station is the third station in the scheme. The power station is located below the rock-filled/clay core Parangana Dam which forms Lake Parangana.[2]
The conventional Lemonthyme Power Station, the fourth power station in the Mersey–Forth scheme, is also located below Parangana Dam.
The power station was commissioned in 2002 by Hydro Tasmania and the station has one Tyco Tamar Francis turbine, with a generating capacity of 0.75 megawatts (1,010 hp) of electricity.[3]
