One Second is the sixth album release by Paradise Lost. Following Draconian Times, the album reflected the group's first complete departure from death/doom in favour of a more gothic direction. One Second is Paradise Lost's first album recorded in digital format. Two songs were written and left out for this album are "The Hour" & "Slave" have not been released on any of the reissues of this album, but are on the second version of the single "One Second". The song "Mercy" has been alternately covered by Orphaned Land, on multiple releases, but the main recording session of the song was for The Calm Before the Flood.
