"Nothing That You Are" is a song by American singer-songwriter Mandy Moore. According to her official website, it is the second single from her 2007 album, Wild Hope.[1]
The song was introduced on February 9, 2007 via Moore's MySpace page. The chorus is led by drums and two guitars, and the song ends with a guitar solo. It is Moore's fifth collaboration with James Renald, who wrote her 2002 single "Cry" and other tracks on the album Wild Hope.
Moore said that when she wrote the song, she was "[p]retty devastated" about something she was going through that involved heartbreak. When asked if it was about her relationship with tennis player Andy Roddick, she said "Maybe. My first real heartbreak."[2] The song was featured in the How I Met Your Mother episode "Wait For It," in which Moore guest starred.
A promo single surfaced, and it has become a very rare hard-to-find item amongst fans.
