Norman Pickavance

Norman Pickavance is an English business person, an advisor and writer on human resources.^[1][2][3][4] He advised Ed Miliband, the former Leader of the Labour Party, on employment matters.^{[5][6][7][8][9][10][11]} Pickavance's first book was published by Kogan Page in December 2014.^[12]

Education

Pickavance graduated from the University of Liverpool with a Bachelor of Law Honours degree in 1985.

Career

Pickavance started his career in 1986 with Grand Metropolitan, before joining Fujitsu in 1990. He joined Perot Systems in 1995 as European HR director, and after its purchase and intergeneration by Dell in 1999, in 2000 joined Marconi Communications. In 2003 he was appointed Group HR and Services Director at Northern Foods, and in 2007 Group HR and Communications Director at Morrisons.^[13][14][15]

Identified in 2011 as one of the most influential HR Directors in Europe,^[16] after leaving Morrisons in 2012 Pickavance was a Non Executive Director for HM Revenue and Customs (2013-2014).^[17][18]

Pickavance is currently an Advisor to The BluePrint for Better Business and National Director, People and Culture at Grant Thornton LLP.^[19] Pickavance is known for being a Campaigner and Activist promoting an ethical approach to business, in helping people who are excluded or exploited in society.^{[20][21][22][19][23]}
