National Institute of Tourism and Hospitality Management began academic operations in October 2004 and formally inaugurated by the INC President Mrs. Sonia Gandhi on 16 March 2005. It was established under the provisions of Andhra Pradesh Societies Registration Act - 2001, with its campus located on a 30 acre verdant expanse in serene natural aesthetic settings interspersed with spots of rocky terrain and the undulating lake waters in the frontage abutting the main building. It is located in the Business and Education hub in Gachibowli of Hyderabad.

National Institute of Tourism and Hospitality Management began academic operations in October 2004 and formally inaugurated by the INC President Mrs. Sonia Gandhi on 16 March 2005. It was established under the provisions of Andhra Pradesh Societies Registration Act - 2001, with its campus located on a 30 acre verdant expanse in serene natural aesthetic settings interspersed with spots of rocky terrain and the undulating lake waters in the frontage abutting the main building. It is located in the Business and Education hub of Hyderabad at Gachibowli with a built-up area of about 2 lakh squarefoot in multiple blocks.

The Institute is in close proximity to the famed Hi-tec City, software MNCs like Microsoft, Infosys, Wipro, TCS. The other educational bodies of national repute around include Maulana Azad National Urdu University, Indian School of Business, IIIT, Hyderabad Central University, Central Institute of English and Foreign Languages as also such famed organisations like National Institute of Fashion Technology, Administrative Staff College of India, Centre for cellular and molecular biology etc.

The Institute is modelled on the lines of premier institutions like IITs and IIMs of the nation and internationally like Harvard Business School and Cornell University. An autonomous institute, it endeavours to carve out a niche for itself and gain pre-eminence as an Institution dedicated to the synergistic blend of theory and practice, academics and administration, education and employability, national and global factors, traditional and modern concepts and issues for today, tomorrow and beyond and to transform itself to become the apex body for holistic development of all related sectors coming under the Tourism and Hospitality industry through provision of education, training, research and consultancy services.

NITHM is located at the centre of bustling business district of Gachibowli and the vibrant IT corridor of Hitech city of Hyderabad, a historic Indian city more than 400 years old also known as 'Pearl City'. The region is also the city's hub of education and learning with reputed institutions nearby like Maulana Azad National Urdu University, Indian School of Business, Indian Institute of Information Technology, Hyderabad Central University, Central Institute of English and Foreign Languages, National Institute of Design and Fashion Technology, Centre for cellular and molecular biology, Administrative Staff College of India, etc. In close quarters to the Institute are located all the multinational software giant MNCs like Microsoft, Infosys, Wipro, TCS etc. The campus is seated on a 30 acre lush green area with a built up area of about 2 lakh sq.ft with a mini lake in the frontyard entertaining and enthralling the visitors. The whole project was designed by M/s Upal Ghosh Associates, New Delhi and executed by Telangana Tourism Development Corporation

Library

LIBRARY : TOURISM AND HOSPITALITY INFORMATION CENTRE

NITHM Library has RFID Based Library Management Systems with KOHA Library Automation Software - a rich and copious collection of books of over 8000, 70 national / international journals, magazines and newspapers of didactic and academic interest as well as of general learning importance and awareness to support the teaching and research activities. The well stocked and spacious library hall covering about 5000 sq. ft. of floor space and with 100 seating. NITHM also organises library week celebrations and book exhibitions every year.

The entire Faculty, Staff, Students are members of Library and are entitled to access the Library documents/services. The Chairman NITHM, The Chairman TSTDC, Managing Director, TSTDC, Secretary (Tourism & Culture) Go TS, The Director General, The Director of NITHM are ‘privileged members’ of Library and the Policy makers of the Institute’s Library & Information Centre. JNTU, UGC, AICTE, NCHMCT & WTO Sponsored Research scholars etc can become members of Library, on application, approved by Director, NITHM.

Above principles in organizing/ establishing the information centre are to create and ensure continuous updating of a comprehensive multiple media database on Tourism and Hospitality Management With the active participation and involvement of Management /Teaching faculty, / officers, a balanced collection of Books / CDs / Periodicals / Reports etc are arrived at.
