Naseema Hurzuk
Dr. Naseema Hurzuk (born 2 September 1950 in Kolhapur) is a social worker from Kolhapur, Maharashtra, India. She works for handicapped people. She has founded a foundation named 'Helpers of the handicapped, Kolhapur'.[1][2]
Early life and education
Naseema Hurzuk was born on 2 September 1950 in Solapur. she was fond of dancing. at the age of 16 she became paraplegic, because her spinal cord became injured in an accident.though she became handicapped, she completed her degree in economics subject and started working as a government servant in the Department of Central Excise of Government of India. She got promoted till the level of vice Superintendent.Then she accepted voluntary retirement and devoted her life for the welfare of handicapped people.
Social work
- 1993 - Started vocational training centre at Kadamwadi Kolhapur
- 1996 - Founded hostel came rehabilitation center named "Gharonda" at Kolhapur
- 2000 - Founded 'Samarth Vidya Mandir' - an inclusive school
- 2001- Founded "Swapnanagri" at Kudal, Sindhudurg and started cashew processing unit there.

- 1998-99 - best lady entrepreneur of Kolhapur, 1998–99
- 1998-99 - baya karve puraskar, 1998-99 awarded by the maharshi karve stree shikshan sanstha, pune
- 2001- national award for a role model, 2001 by the ministry of social justice and empowerment, government of India
- 2002 - kolhapur Bhushan, 2002
- 2002 - cavin kare ability award for eminence, 2002 by ability foundation, chennai
- 2002 - B J modi foundation award, 2002 by NASEOH

- Member of expert committee on disable woman under the national commission for women
- member of committee under the national trust for the welfare of persons with autism, cerebral palsy, mental retardation and multiple disabilities, by the ministry of
- special guest at the international year of women's empowerment celebrations, 2001,held in new jarsey by the maharashtra foundation
- Member of the advisory committee for women's study centre, shivaji university
