Naro-Fominsky District (Russian: Наро-Фоминский райо́н) is an administrative[1] and municipal[4] district (raion), one of the thirty-six in Moscow Oblast, Russia. It is located in the southwest of the oblast. The area of the district is 1,547.44 square kilometers (597.47 sq mi).[4] Its administrative center is the town of Naro-Fominsk.[1] Population: 189,763 (2010 Census);[5] 191,596 (2002 Census);[8] 112,685 (1989 Census).[9] The population of Naro-Fominsk accounts for 34.1% of the district's total population.[5]
History
A part of Naro-Fominsky District was merged into the federal city of Moscow on July 1, 2012.[10]
