Napoleon Oak

Napoleon Oak

The Napoleon Oak is an oak tree, former the largest oak in Poland and one of the biggest in Europe.

It was a monumental tree with single—stemmed, hollow trunk. Its girth at the 1,3 m height was 1042,5 cm, height of the tree was 28 m (in 2007), volume—about 130 m³. Age of the tree was estimated on 600–700 years. Unfortunately, this oak was set on fire by vandals (at least third time in history) and collapsed on May, 2010.[1]

Name of the tree is connected to Napoleon Bonaparte, who allegedly stopped by this oak in 1812, when his army went to Russia[1].

Oak grew in Zabór, Lubusz Voivodeship.
