Nabumali High School (NHS), is a mixed, boarding, secondary school in Eastern Uganda.
Location
The school is located in the village of Nabumali, in Mbale District, off the Tororo-Mbale Road, approximately 11 kilometres (6.8 mi), south of the city of Mbale (2011 est. pop: 91,800).[1] This location lies at the foothills of Wanale, one of the mountain ranges that make up Mount Elgon.
History
The school was founded by the Church Missionary Society (CMS) in 1900. It moved to its present location in 1912. In August 2006, a student strike occurred at the school in protest of the school bursar's alleged mishandling of funds. The performance of the school was exemplary in the 1960s through the 1990s. During the 2000s, standards have declined.[2] However, there is currently an effort including alumni to revive the school's former glory.[3] its first head master was a white missionary called crab tree under which crab tree house was named, its first African head teacher was Mr Tomusange under which Tomusange house was named.
