Myke Ikoku

Michael Obinna Ikemsinachi Chieze ikoku is a Nigerian politictian and businessman.

Early life

Ikoku was born in Port-Harcourt, Rivers State, in southern Nigeria. His primary education spread across six southeastern schools. He was the son of the headmaster in St. Paul’s Primary School Owerri. He moved to Township School Owerri, and then to Ihite Ogada Primary School, Logara Mbaise Primary School and Amakohia Ubi Primary School. He then continued to secondary school at Holy Ghost College Owerri and later Boys High School Nkwerre.

He graduated successfully with a B.Sc in Sociology from the University of Lagos (UNILAG) and studied public administration at the chartered institute of local government and public administration.

Career

Ikoku, popularly known as Evangelist Myke Ikoku, is an associate member of the chartered institute of local government and public administration.

Business

In 1992, he started his first business as an electrical and electronics distributor and manufacturer with the brand name OBIRON. He ventured into food in 1994 with the brand called Obinaocha bread, which was very popular in the southeast region. Currently, he runs hospitality, electrical and electronics, property, entertainment and oil and gas businesses.

In 2003, he handed over management of his ALL SEASONS HOTEL OWERRI to Dr. Dan Akpabio, (Namet Hotels Abuja).

Politics

He has been in the political business for a very long time, aiding in creating youth awareness programs and creating jobs for youth across the country. In 1999, he and other political figures in the Igbo community supported then-president, Olusegun Obasanjo and PDP when the Igbos couldn't claim victory for the presidential seat.

In 2001, he declared that the Igbos needed to unite to make a positive impact, listing ways to prove that the Ndigbo had a stake in Nigeria.

He wrote a letter to Obasanjo in April 2001, when the president visited Imo state, stating that rural areas lagged in economic growth, naming places that needed attention rather than seeking a contract or other favours.

He commended the President's good work on police reformation in 1999 and the decision to make General David Jemibewon minister of police affairs.

He supported the reelection of president Goodluck Jonathan.

In 2014, Ikoku decided to run for the federal house of representative under the A.P.G.A political party with hope to cause a reformation in Imo State.[1][2][3]
