Mother in Law Island

Mother in Law Island is an island in the Thimble Islands group.

Name

Mother in Law Island was named after two people got married on Money Island. For their honeymoon, they rowed off to a small cottage that had been specially built for them on nearby Prudden Island. The mother of one of the two newlyweds insisted upon going with them. That night, the mother in law got tired and went to bed, so the couple, who felt their privacy was being invaded, took the boat back to Money Island, leaving her there until the next day.[1]

Some people still informally call the island Prudden Island.
