Mossa (Slovene: Moš) is a comune (municipality) in the Province of Gorizia in the Italian region Friuli-Venezia Giulia, located about 40 kilometres (25 mi) northwest of Trieste and about 5 kilometres (3 mi) west of Gorizia. As of 31 December 2004, it had a population of 1,689 and an area of 6.1 square kilometres (2.4 sq mi).[1]
The municipality of Mossa contains the frazioni (subdivisions, mainly villages and hamlets) Villa Blanchis and Valisella. The name is derived from the old German "Moos Au". See the website of the Comune:
