On 22 May 2013, Al Thani became the first Qatari[3] to reach the summit of the highest mountain in the world, Mount Everest[4][5] in Nepal and to climb the seven highest summits of the seven continents by successfully scaling on 2 June 2016 Mount Denali in Alaska, North America.[6] Al Thani also became the first Qatari to “Ski the last degree” to the South Pole, “the bottom of the world” [7] in commemoration of Qatar’s National Day. Al Thani has already conquered Mount Kilimanjaro (twice), Mont Blanc, Mount Vinson, the highest peak of Antarctica, Mount Elbrus the highest point in Europe, Mount Kosciuszko, Australia and South America's Mount Aconcagua, the highest peak in the Western hemisphere.
