Miwako Date

Miwako Date is the Executive Managing Director and the president of the Mori Trust Hotels & Resorts Co, a unit of Mori Trust; the daughter of Japanese property developer Akira Mori, chief executive officer of Mori Trust.[1]

Family

Date is the granddaughter of the property tycoon Taikichiro Mori, who six decades ago founded Mori Fudosan, and the daughter of Japanese billionaire property developer Akira Mori.

Education

Date attended Sacred Heart private girls school in Tokyo, where Empress Michiko was educated. She graduated with a master's degree in media and governance from Keio University in Tokyo.[2]

Career

In 1998, after some work at a Japanese consulting firm, Miwako started working at Mori Trust. In 2008, she became Executive Managing Director of Mori Trust, in charge of Real Estate Development, Construction Management and Ordering Management Departments. Since 2009 Miwako also holds the post of Chairman of Mampei Hotel (in Karuizawa) and since 2011– the post of President of Mori Trust Hotels & Resorts. In 2015 the company is forecasting hotel revenue to grow 26 percent in the latest fiscal year. That compares with an average 5.4 percent gain at the five largest hotel operators in the same period, the year ended March 31, according to an estimate by Mizuho Bank.[3]
