The Minnesota Havok was a professional indoor football organization that was scheduled to begin play in the Indoor Football League (IFL) for the 2016 season. They were to be based in Mankato, the Havok would have played their home games at the Verizon Wireless Center.

The Havok would have been the second indoor football team to call Mankato home, after the Minnesota Purple Rage, which played in the original Indoor Football League for the 2000 season before the team and league folded.

The team folded before ever starting, after much turmoil and due to a general lack of stability with the ownership. Concerns of fundraising, sponsorships, coaching staff and front office personnel turnover, and a number of issues with team ownership may have pushed the team to its demise.

History

On September 9, 2015, the IFL announced that the Havok would be the league's twelfth team for the 2016 season. Owned by Stanley and Tiffany Legg, the Havok's first head coach is Jose Jefferson (former head coach for the Green Bay Blizzard and Sioux City Bandits). In addition, the Havok signed Mankato native and Minnesota State alumnus Bryan Keys, who had previously been in training camp for the Minnesota Vikings and played for the Blizzard in the 2015 season.[1] On December 28, 2015, the Havok announced that Jefferson was dismissed as the teams head coach, and Shawn Anderson, a semi-professional outdoor coach was hired as the Havok head coach. On January 30, 2016, the league revoked the teams membership after failing to meet league obligations.[2][3]
