Mike Pringle (doctor)
Mike Pringle CBE FRCGP is a British doctor who is a former President of the Royal College of General Practitioners (RCGP) 2012−2015. He is now retired from clinical practice, having worked as a general practitioner for 30 years.
Career
His first job in general practice was at the Sonning Common Practice in rural Oxfordshire.[1]
He was Emeritus Professor of General Practice at University of Nottingham. He is Strategic Director of PRIMIS, a business unit of the University of Nottingham, that provides a range of primary care health informatics services to the health sector and research community.[2] He is a healthcare informatics expert and was an adviser for the NHS IT programme.[3]
He was Chair of RCGP Council from 1998-2001, Chair of the RCGP Trustee Board 2009−2012 and RCGP revalidation clinical lead 2008−2012.[4]
He was elected as the RCGP’s 23rd President in June 2012, taking up the position in November 2012 for a three-year term.[5]
He was on the Board of Trustees at Arthritis Research UK.[6]
Awards and honours
In 2001 he was appointed a CBE for services to medicine.[7]
