Meghna Pant is an Indian literary fiction author and financial journalist.[1]

She has written one novel, One & A Half Wife (2012), and a collection of short stories, Happy Birthday! (2013).[2][3]

Pant's short stories have been published in over a dozen international literary magazines, including Avatar Review,[4] Wasafari, Eclectica,[5] and QLRS.[6]

Pant is also known for having abridged the world's longest epic, the Mahabharata.[7]

Awards and honours

Pant's debut novel One & A Half Wife was published by Westland Books in May 2012. It went into multiple reprints and won the national literary Muse India Young Writer Award.[8][9]

The novel was also shortlisted for the Cinnamon Press Novel Writing Award, Word Hustler's Literary Storm Novel Contest and the Amazon Breakthrough Novel Award.[10]

Happy Birthday, Meghna's second book, was published in July 2013 by Random House.

Happy Birthday was one of a hundred works longlisted for the 2014 Frank O'Connor International Short Story Award.[11][12][13]

Mumbai-based writer Meghna Pant bagged the 2016 FON South Asia Short Story Award on Nature Writing for her story People of the Sun.[14]

Personal life

Born in Shimla, Pant is the sister [15] of Indian stand-up comedian Sorabh Pant, who is also the author of The Wednesday Soul.[16]
