Macarena Gelman
This name uses Spanish naming customs: the first or paternal family name is Gelman and the second or maternal family name is García.
María Macarena Gelman García (born 1 November 1976 in Montevideo) is a Uruguayan activist and politician.
Biography
Born in captivity to an Argentine kidnapped mother, Macarena was given in adoption.
In 2000, President Jorge Batlle ordered an investigation and Macarena recovered her identity.
In March 2014, Gelman took the decision to take part in politics and endorsed the presidential candidacy of Constanza Moreira. At the same time, she declared her own candidacy to the Uruguayan Parliament for the Broad Front in the October elections.[1]
