2011 Lotto Sport Italia NRFL Division 1

The Thomson Shield, the time-honoured trophy
of the Northern League First Division. It was first
awarded to the winners of the AFA First Division in 1892.

The Lotto Sport Italia NRFL Division 1 is a New Zealand Association football (soccer) semi-professional status league competition that is run by the Auckland Football Federation and includes soccer clubs located in the northern part of the North Island, New Zealand. It is open to clubs from the Northland, Auckland, Waikato and Bay of Plenty provinces.

The 2010 Lotto Sport Italia NRFL Division 1 league consisted of two competition sections NRFL Division 1A and NRFL Division 1B. The Lotto Sport Italia NRFL Division 1 league now consist of one single competition section and league table.

At completion of the 2010 championship round, the winners of Divs 1A & 1B played-off for the Thomson Shield, to determine the 2010 Lotto Sport Italia NRFL First Division champions which were Hamilton Wanderers and Onehunga Sports.

Both of these teams were promoted to the 2011 Lotto Sport Italia NRFL Premier.

Teams placed 2nd to 6th in Divs 1A & 1B contested the 2011 Lotto Sport Italia NRFL First Division.

Teams placed 7th & 8th in Divs 1A & 1B contested a play-off series with the Lotto Sport Italia NRFL Div 2 winners.

The top two contested the 2011 Lotto Sport Italia NRFL First Division. The bottom three contested the 2011 Lotto Sport Italia NRFL Div 2.[2]
