Vincent Logan Watkins (born August 29, 1989) is a Major League Baseball infielder who is currently a free agent. He was selected by the Cubs in the 21st round of the 2008 Major League Baseball Draft.
Early life
Watkins attended Goddard High School in Goddard, Kansas, where he played football as a quarterback and baseball.[1]
Professional career
Watkins was drafted by the Chicago Cubs in the 21st round of the 2008 amateur draft. He signed with the team on June 27, 2008, receiving a reported signing bonus of $600,000.
Minors
In the Minors he has batted .277 with 23 home runs.
Majors
Chicago Cubs
Watkins was named the Cubs' minor league player of the year in 2012. The Cubs added him to their 40-man roster after the season.[2] On August 4, 2013, the Cubs promoted Watkins to the major leagues.[3] Watkins hit .246 with a home run in 65 at-bats with the Cubs in 2014.
Watkins was designated for assignment by the Cubs on December 19, 2014.[4]
