The UK Singles Chart is one of many music charts compiled by the Official Charts Company that calculates the best-selling singles of the week in the United Kingdom.[1] Before 2004, the chart was only based on the sales of physical singles with airplay figures and digital downloads excluded from the official chart. This list shows singles that peaked in the Top 10 of the UK Singles Chart during 1995, as well as songs which peaked in 1994 and 1996 but were in the top 10 in 1995. The entry date is when the song appeared in the top 10 for the first time.
154 singles were in the top ten in 1995. Irish boyband Boyzone had the most top 10 entries in 1995 with five. "Father and Son" was their biggest hit of the year: it peaked at number 2 in December and spent eight weeks in the top 10. "Love Me for a Reason" also reached number 2 in January, "So Good" made number 3 in August, and "Key to My Life" charted at the same position in April. Their fifth and final entry was with the charity group Childliners, alongside Dannii Minogue, Peter Andre, Deuce, Michelle Gayle among others. The group reached number 9 in December with the song "The Gift of Christmas". Bon Jovi, Janet Jackson, MN8, The Outhere Brothers, East 17 and Oasis all had four top 10 entries in 1995.
The acting/singing duo Robson & Jerome had the biggest-selling single of 1995 with "Unchained Melody" / "The White Cliffs of Dover", which spent 7 weeks at number-one in the UK, a total of ten weeks in the top 10, and sold over 1.8 million copies. American rapper Coolio's "Gangsta's Paradise" was the second best-seller of the year, followed by another Robson & Jerome double A-side release, "I Believe" / "Up on the Roof". Songs by Take That, Celine Dion, Michael Jackson and Everything but the Girl were also in the top ten best-selling singles of the year.
