Lala Sehrai, (Urdu: لالہ صحرائی) (born 14 February 1920) is an Urdu poet and writer from Pakistan.He has received presidential award pakistan for his literary work on gauzwat e rehmat lalalameen(PBUH)(1997) غَزوات رحمتہ للعا لمین .
Biography
Early life
The real name of Lala Sehrai is Muhammad Sadiq. He was born in a town of the eastern Punjab District Amritsar -based Mehta in 14 February 1920. His father's name was Chaudhary Allah Din. He was the contractor in Department of Anhar by profession and he had also put cooked two brick kilns. God do that during the same years, his father had to face severe deficit in both kilns, after which he was forced to move to a new job. An old acquaintance of Lala Sehrai’s father was posted in British Engineer Department Canal in a town jahanian.Thus through his help, his father started as contractor in Department Canal.
Education
Lala Sehrai was a 5th grade student at the time of migration. Lala Sehrai got his middle education in jahanian, district khanewal. He had to take admission in a high school and its hostel located in main area of Tehsil for higher education. He passed his matriculation with discriminatory position under the aegis of Punjab University in 1938. Lala Sehrai was fond of study to the extent of obsession since middle classes. Because of financial difficulties, Lala Sehrai could not continue his education. He collaborate his father in his business for a half year. Then he worked as telephone operator in Department Canal for few months. Then after being a civilian instructor in the Army for some time, he was stationed in the armored corps records in Lucknow. Since gradient mode was never willing for the Englishman 's job, so within two and half and three years he gave up Army job and came back to jahanian a few months ago in formation of Pakistan. After the formation of Pakistan, he contributed to Sulemani Jahanian Dispensary with Maulana Hakeem Muhammad Abdullah, the screed, the prominent religious scholar and the author of numerous medical books, and Maulana Haji Muhammad Usman.
During all over that, Lala Sehrai had particular interest in the study and on the basis of this literary tastes, he read the books of the Dignitaries writers by the tastes and hobbies. He studied the parlance of Meer, Mashafi, Ghalib, Shibli and Azaad with great passion. He was in love with Allama Iqbal.
His Writings were also published in impeccable magazines and newspapers of the country. He had special relationship and contact with known knowledgeable persons. Due to his efforts, there was also held an All Pakistan Mushaira in jahanian in 1962, in which the leading poets across the country had participated .He was always presented in social services of City jahanian. Recognition of his services for city jahanian, a square in the city jahanian has also been named as Lala Sehrai Chowk jahanian.[1][2][3]
