Kingston Business School is a business school located in London, United Kingdom and a part of Kingston University. It is based in Kingston upon Thames on the border of London and Surrey.

Kingston Business School offers a range of courses for undergraduate and postgraduate students. They also have a range of established doctoral research programmes; many of the courses they offer are recognised and accredited by professional bodies.[2]

The school was the first to be given a triple AMBA accreditation and is one of three business schools in the world to claim so. It also has an EFMD EPAS accreditation.

History

Kingston Business School origins date to the 1960s. It is now part of the Faculty of Business and Law at Kingston University. The Faculty was established in 1984 as part of the Kingston Polytechnic which became a university in 1992.

Campus

The Business School is situated on the Kingston Hill campus, one of four campuses of the university, in the London borough of Kingston upon Thames. In April 2012 it moved into a new purpose-built building on the site.[3] The campus is within walking distance of Richmond Park. A free and frequent student bus services operates between campuses and Kingston town centre during term time.[4]

Organisation and academic profile

The school is divided into five academic departments: Accounting & Finance, Business Information Technology & Operations Management, Business & Management, Leadership & Human Resource Management, Marketing & Communications. They offer undergraduate, taught postgraduate and doctoral programmes.

The Business School works in partnership with academic institutions in Russia,[5] Greece,[6] and India to deliver Kingston University degree programmes such as the Masters in Business Administration (MBA), International HRM programme,[7] and MA Leadership Practice.[8]

Accreditation

The Business School has triple accreditation from the Association of MBAs (AMBA) for its MBA (in the UK, Russia, Greece and Cyprus), its Masters in Business Management and Masters in International Business Management and its DBA programme.[9] The European Foundation for Management Development (EFMD) has awarded Kingston Business School EPAS accreditation for three sets of programmes; Masters in Management, Bachelors in Management and the PhD in Business.[10]

Research

The Business School has five research centres covering Asia business; business-to-business marketing; employment, skills and society; leadership and management in health; small businesses.[11] It also has nine research groups covering behaviour and practice; business modelling and analysis; consumer research; emerging technologies; employee engagement; knowledge, process and project management; leadership and occupational psychology; operations.[12]

Rankings

The Guardian ranked Kingston University as Other Universities where "Business, Management and Marketing" subject is taught.[13]

The Complete University Guide ranked Kingston University 109th in UK.[14]

Student life

The Kingston Hill Campus is located approximately 3 miles from Kingston Town Centre and close to Richmond Park and Wimbledon Common, and is approximately 25 minutes from central London. The Campus has study facilities for students which include Meeting pods, designated Study rooms, numerous Computer Labs, a Learning Cafe and a Learning Resources Centre; formally known as the Nightingale Centre.[15] As part of Kingston University, the Business School has one of the most ethnically diverse student populations in the UK.[16]

Also located on the Campus is a Halls of Residence to accommodate 565 students, Music Studio, Café, Restaurant and Bar. Sports and fitness activities at Kingston Hill include football, table tennis, golf and badminton.[17] In addition, the University also has its own sports clubs and teams which are run by the Kingston University Student Union (KUSU).[18]
