As KTNT/KPMA
The station was originally launched in 1948 as KTNT in Tacoma, Washington & was owned by the Tacoma News Tribune which also owned KTNT-TV (now KSTW) & KTNT-FM (now KIRO-FM). In 1983, KTNT became KPMA which lasted until the end of 1984.
As KITZ
1400 AM was relaunched in 1986 as KITZ under ownership of Silversound Broadcasting Company and its City of License was transferred from Tacoma, Washington to Silverdale, Washington.
