Junko Fujii (藤井 順子[1][2][3] Fujii Junko, born 3 April 1966) is a Japanese female Paralympic sitting volleyball player.[1][4][5][6] She is part of the Japan women's national sitting volleyball team.
Biography
Junko Fujii was born 3 April 1966. She currently resides in Kawaguchi, Saitama in Japan.
Sitting volleyball
Fujii began playing the sport of sitting volleyball at the age of 27 after an amputation.[4] She made her debut for the Japanese national team in 1992 and is coached by Tsutomu Tanabe.[4] She competed at the 2008 Summer Paralympics a part of a Japan team that lost all three of its preliminary round matches.[7]
She and her teammates won the silver medal at the 2010 Asian Para Games.[8] She again represented Japan at the 2012 Summer Paralympics finishing 8th.[9][10]
Fujii was named to the 2016 Intercontinental Women's Sitting Volleyball team for Japan.[11]
On club level she played for Saitama Red Beads Venus in 2012.
