Jules Buckley (born 8 January 1980, Aylesbury) is an English conductor, composer and arranger.

Buckley grew up in Buckinghamshire, attending Aylesbury Grammar School from 1992-98[1] and playing in the Aylesbury Music Centre Dance Band.[2] He attended the Guildhall School of Music, where he studied the trumpet. His initial career interest was to become a jazz trumpeter, but he developed an interest in musical arrangements and conducting whilst at Guildhall, and subsequently shifted his academic focus to composition.[3] In 2004, Buckley and producer/manager Chris Wheeler co-founded the Heritage Orchestra, with the intention of featuring an orchestra in a music club setting. In 2008 Buckley became principal guest conductor of the Metropole Orkest.

In 2013, he became the chief conductor of the Metropole Orkest. With the Heritage Orchestra and the Metropole Orkest, Buckley has appeared regularly at The Proms in concerts of non-classical repertoire.[4][5]

Buckley has worked with the WDR Big Band, Jose James and the Royal Concertgebouworkest, Patrick Watson and the Orchestre Nationale d'Ile de France, and arranged and conducted Caro Emerald's album "The Shocking Miss Emerald". Other collaborations have included projects with Gregory Porter, Tori Amos, Markus Stockhausen, Michael Kiwanuka, Jonathan Jeremiah, Basement Jaxx, Massive Attack, Arctic Monkeys, John Cale, Emeli Sandé, Cinematic Orchestra, Jamie Cullum, Beardyman and Dizzee Rascal. In February 2016, the Snarky Puppy album Sylva, which featured Buckley and the Metropole Orkest, won a Grammy award for ‘Best Contemporary Instrumental Album’ at the 58th annual Grammys in February 2016. In 2016 he conducted the Metropole Orkest at the BBC Proms in a concert celebrating the music of Quincy Jones.[6][7][8]
