Joseph Thwaites (1780s–1857) was an English merchant.[2] He belonged to the group of British merchants, who have done business in Buenos Aires, between 1810 and 1830.[3]

Biography

Joseph Thwaites was born in London, England, in 1809 had arrived in the port of Buenos Aires in trade mission.[4] He settled with his family in the village of Ranchos, where they were owners of several hectares.[5] Thwaites was married with Juana Rubio del Rivero, criolla born in Buenos Aires.[6]
