John Bowler Fitzgibbons is an American entrepreneur and philanthropist. Mr. Fitzgibbons has been active in the global energy markets since the early 1990s.[1] Currently, Mr. Fitzgibbons serves as the Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of Basin Holdings, a global energy and industrial holding company he founded in 2010. His philanthropic interests focus on education and healthcare.

Education

John Fitzgibbons attended Milton Academy and Phillips Exeter Academy before graduating cum laude with a B.A. in Government from Harvard University.[2]

Career

Khanty Mansiysk Oil Corporation (1995 – 2003)

In 1995, Mr. Fitzgibbons founded and served as Chief Executive Officer of Khanty Mansiysk Oil Corporation (“KMOC”), an oil exploration company located in Russia. In 2003, Marathon Oil Corporation acquired KMOC for $285 million.

Integra Group (2004 – Current)

After the sale of KMOC in 2003, Mr. Fitzgibbons founded Integra Group, an oilfield services company active throughout the Former Soviet Union. In 2007, Integra went public on the London Stock Exchange, valuing the company at $2.4 billion. In 2014, Integra was taken private in a management buyout. Mr. Fitzgibbons remains chairman. [3][4]

Basin Holdings (2010 – Current)

In 2010, Mr. Fitzgibbons founded Basin Holdings, a privately owned energy and industrial holding company. Basin Holdings employs over 1,100 people in 17 countries. The company’s 15 subsidiaries sell their products and services through the Basin platform. [5]

Mr. Fitzgibbons makes direct investments across multiple industries and asset classes, including security, real estate, agriculture, and finance. [6]

Philanthropy

Mr. Fitzgibbons is chairman of The SUNY Research Foundation, a non-profit affiliate of the State University of New York that administers an annual research budget in excess of $1 billion from federal, state and private sources. [10] He is a Vice Chairman of the Cancer Research Institute, a non-profit organization dedicated to the global development of new immune system-based cancer treatments.[14] He is also a trustee of Milton Academy and chairman of its investment committee. [15] Mr. Fitzgibbons is a member of the Council on Foreign Relations.[16]
