Jill Dougherty
Jill Dougherty (born in 1949) is an American reporter and journalist who worked as an anchor and foreign affairs correspondent for CNN.[1] She was part of the CNN team that won the 1993 American Journalism Review Award for Best White House Coverage. She began her career as a Russian-language broadcaster and writer for Voice of America, U.S.S.R. Division. She was a Benton Fellow in Broadcast Journalism at the University of Chicago and studied at Leningrad State University, U.S.S.R. She holds a B.A. in Russian Language and Literature from the University of Michigan at Ann Arbor.[2] After 30 years at CNN, she left in 2013,[3] but remains a foreign affairs correspondent. Based in the network’s Washington, D.C., bureau, Dougherty covers U.S. foreign policy.[4] She is currently a fellow at the Harvard Kennedy School of Government.[5]
Personal life
Dougherty was diagnosed with breast cancer in 1999 at age 50.[6]
