This is a Chinese name; the family name is Jia.
Jia Fan (died 238) was a military general serving under the Liaodong warlord Gongsun Yuan during the Three Kingdoms period of Chinese history. Jia Fan at one time incurred the wrath of his lord, and ended up being executed after his advice against Gongsun Yuan pretending to be the King of Yan. Following the Liaodong campaign led by Wei general Sima Yi, Sima conferred court ranks to the descendants of Jia Fan.
