IntelliQuote Insurance Services is an American online life insurance agency. Originally headquartered out of the founder's Folsom, California home,[1] Intelliquote is currently located in El Dorado Hills, California.[2]
Founding and development
Founded in 1997, by president and CEO Gary Lardy,[3] IntelliQuote was one of the first online life insurance agencies of its kind. In its second year, IntelliQuote began expanding business operations and by 2000 was home to 17 employees. In the year following the company's 2002 incorporation,[3] IntelliQuote placed over 10,000 policies, at that time becoming one of the largest online life insurance agencies in the market.
Products
Term Life Insurance
Term life insurance is a life insurance policy that provides coverage at a fixed rate for a predetermined period of time. After that period expires the insured is no longer guaranteed the same rate for coverage and must choose to either forgo coverage or obtain a new policy. Term life insurance is the least expensive way to secure a substantial amount of life insurance protection. IntelliQuote offers a wide variety of term life insurance products.
Permanent Life Insurance
Permanent life insurance provides a death benefit at the time of the insured’s death, regardless of lifespan, as long as the policy is kept current. Permanent policies also earn cash value over time which can be drawn upon during the insured’s lifetime. IntelliQuote also offers a wide selection of permanent life insurance products.
Guaranteed Universal Life Insurance
Universal life (UL) insurance is a form of permanent life insurance which accrues cash value for all premium payments made beyond that of the cost of the policy. When premiums are paid, the cost of insurance (COI) is debited and all remaining funds are credited with interest as cash value. IntelliQuote offers a wide breadth of UL products.

In 2004, IntelliQuote was awarded the Transamerica Corporation Leading New General Agency Award. In 2006, IntelliQuote was featured in Forbes Magazine's Best of the Web,[4] and was awarded Prudential Financial's Rock Solid Performer Award.
Advertising
IntelliQuote's consumer outreach and advertising has primarily focused on electronic communication such as social media. In 2013 the company introduced a social media campaign on its corporate blog called the "Everyday Superhero" campaign, featuring a young boy donning a cape and suggesting that there is a hero in everyone.[5]
