Ihor Huz (11 January 1982, Luts’k, Volyns’ka oblast’) – Ukrainian politician. Member of Ukrainian parliament. The Deputy chairman of The Committee on Foreign Affairs in Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine. The member of Permanent Mission of Ukraine in Assembly of Council of Europe. On the parliament run in 2014 won the elections in single member constituency №19 (Ivanychi, Volodymyr-Volynskyi, Liuboml’s’kyi regions of Volyns’ka oblast’).

Biography

Was born in Luts’k (Volyns’ka oblast’). The family from the mother’s side comes from village Svirzhe (Helm region in Poland). From father’s side comes from Stara Vyzhva region in Volyns’ka oblast’. Graduated the school #19 in Luts’k and Volyn’ state university of Lesia Ukrainka, specialty – political science. Married.

Social activities

2001-2005 – active member and Head of NGO Youth Nationalist Congress in Volyns’ka oblast’. 2002-2005 – The Deputy of the Head in All-Ukrainian NGO Youth Nationalist Congress. 2005-2013 – The Head of All-Ukrainian NGO National Alliance. From 2007 until now – The Head of Organizing Committee of The Festival of Ukrainian Spirit Bandershtat.

Deputy’s activity

2002 – was elected as a deputy to the Luts’k City Council, became the member of The Youth, Education and Science Commition.

2006 – was elected as a deputy to the Volyn’ Oblast’ Council, became the head of Permanent Commission of Youth Politics, Sport and Tourism.

2010 – was elected, as a deputy to the Volyn Oblast’ Council, became the member of The Budget, Finances and Pricing Policy Commition.

Parliament run

On parliament run on 2012 was a candidate from political bloc of United opposition Bat’kivschyna in the constituency #21 (Kovel’, Ratne, Stara Vuzhva and Shats’k regions) and got 36,39% (that is 36 306 votes).

On the parliament run in 2014 was a candidate from political party Narodnyi Front in the constituency #19 (Ivanychy, Volodymyr-Volyns’kyi, Liuboml’ regions) and won with a great breakaway and got 30,69% (that is 27 243 votes).

Work in local authorities

2007-2011 – counselor of Luts’k City Mayor, Head of the Department of Family and Youth at the City Council.

20-02-2014 – was elected as a Deputy Chairman of The Volyn’ Oblast’ Council. 21-11-2014 – due to the win in the parliament elections resigned from the post.

Persecution during Euromaidan

Was one of the main coordinators of Euromaidan in Luts’k. Police opened a criminal investigating case on Ihor Huz for participating in protest actions. On 25 December 2013 The City Court decided to apply to Igor Huz preventive measure in the form of house arrest for a period of 60 days using an electronic bracelet to monitor the movement of suspected. But on the 30th of December 2013 The Court of Appeal in the Volyn’ oblast’ ruled to mitigate preventive measure to the politician.

Foreign political activities

The participant of the social action Chornobyl’ Way-2005 in Mins’k (Belarus’). Was convicted to administrative arrest for 10 days. Deported from Belarus with ban entry to this state for 5 years. Was recognized as a prisoner of conscience by Amnesty International.

Hobbies

The politician enjoys swimming, including long distance. Specifically on the 22nd of August, 2012 due to the campaign “Save Svityaz”, which was intended to draw public attention to the problem of a career in Hotyslav (Belarus), which provides bad influence on the lake, Ihor Huz crossed the biggest in Ukraine lake Svityaz. It took 2 hours 46 minutes.

Awards

Was rewarded by The Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine for special achievements of young people in the development of Ukraine.
