The US version of Hollies' Greatest, released in 1980, is a compilation of the Hollies' best known Liberty and Imperial singles.
In 1979, Capitol/EMI purchased United Artists Records, successor company to Imperial Records, the Hollies' original US label.
Unlike its UK counterpart issued twelve years earlier, Capitol issued this album in mono only, despite the fact true stereo masters existed for all tracks.
This album is also known as the first US release of "Searchin'", originally issued in the UK as a single in 1963.
Although neither Capitol nor Parlophone/EMI reissued these albums on CD, the material can easily be found on numerous compilations.
