Hansel DeBartolo
Hansel Marion DeBartolo Jr. (May 13, 1947 - May 2, 2014) was a surgeon who also served as part-owner of the Chicago White Sox baseball team.
Early life and education
DeBartolo was born in Aurora, Illinois. He attended Marmion Military Academy, University of Minnesota and Loyola University Stritch School of Medicine, where he earned his M.D. He completed his residency at the Geisinger Medical Center in Danville, Pennsylvania. He earned his J.D. from the Taft Law School, an unaccredited online law school and never became a licensed attorney.
Professional career
DeBartolo was a member of numerous organizations, including the American Medical Association, Priestley Surgical Society and Doctors Mayo Society. He practiced head and neck surgery for over 36 years and wrote numerous scholarly journal articles. In 1981, he became a part-owner of the Chicago White Sox.[1]
On May 8, 2014, the Illinois General Assembly adopted resolution SR1170, which mourned the death of DeBartolo.[2]
