Hanke Gerdina Johannette Bruins Slot (born 20 October 1977 in Apeldoorn) is a Dutch politician and former officer and hockey player. As a member of the Christian Democratic Appeal (Christen-Democratisch Appèl) she has been an MP since 17 June 2010. She focuses on matters of defense personnel, local government, healthcare science professions, medical law, psychiatry and sports.
Biography
Bruins Slot studied constitutional and administrative law, public administration and management at Utrecht University. She worked in the Ministry of the Interior and Kingdom Relations before becoming a professional soldier in August 2007 after following a postdoc study at the Koninklijke Militaire Academie.
From July to December 2008 Bruins Slot was commanding officer of a self-propelled artillery unit of the Royal Netherlands Army in Afghanistan on behalf of ISAF. From February to June 2010 she was a staff officer.
Since June 2010 she has been a member of the Dutch House of Representatives.
Family
Both her father (Harm Bruins Slot, CDA) and her grandfather (Zwaatinus Bruins Slot, CHU) were mayors.
