Grimmtastic Girls

Grimmtastic Girls is a series of children's books written by Joan Holub and Suzanne Williams. It uses themes and characters from fairy tales, including Cinderella, Little Red Riding Hood, Rapunzel, Snow White, Sleeping Beauty, and Goldilocks.[1] The series is set at Grimm Academy in the country of Grimmlandia. The first book, Cinderella Stays Late, was published in 2014.

Characters

Cinderella

Cinderella, nicknamed Cinda, is a tomboy girl with a love for masketball. After Cinda's mother died, her dad remarried to her stepmother, who had two children, Malorette and Odette, both of whom love tricking Cinda. Both stepsisters are mean to her and always blame her for actions caused by themselves. They never miss the chance to put her down. Cinda keeps a picture of her mom with her as a trinket. She does not have a picture of her dad because her stepmother forced her to give it to her stepsisters. In the first book, Cinda starts her first day at Grimm Academy. Her BFFs are Red, Rapunzel, and Snow. Prince Awesome, her crush, is the prince in Cinderella's story. Cinda's charm is a magic pair of glass slippers. While at Prince Awesome's ball, she along with her friends discover a mapestry hidden under the stones, which leads her and her friends to treasure in Rapunzel Cuts Loose (see below.). They also learn about the E.V.I.L. Society while reading the map. They suspect Cinda's stepsisters are a part of E.V.I.L.

Rapunzel

Rapunzel is the goth girl who is fearless—well, almost fearless. She has an extreme fear of heights, so she lives in the dungeon of Pink Tower. If her hair is cut, it grows right back in a few minutes, which sometimes bothers her. Her magical charm is an onyx carved comb that grows on command. In the book Rapunzel Cuts Loose, she has a crush on Prince Perfect, until she finds out he only likes her because of her long, luxurious and silky locks. She has a newfound love for Basil, a boy she met in the first grade and saved from a lot of bullies, making him the hero in her story. She foiled the plans of E.V.I.L. and sealed Dame Gothel, the witch that raised her, in a book.

Red Riding Hood

Red Riding Hood, or Red, is a girl who loves to act. She is described as a girl with glitter-red-streaked, curly black hair, hooded by a red cape. The second book is from her point of view. Her magical charm is a brown wicker basket that can get her anything that fits inside it. She has a horrible sense of direction, which sometimes gets her late for classes or meals. Red is also good at baking, and her tower-task is Snack-Maker. Her roommate is Gretel. Red has a crush on Wolfgang.

Snow White

Snow White or Snow is a shy girl whose stepmother does not seem to like her. She is described as a girl with pale skin and short ebony hair. When Snow was less than a year old, her mother died and her father married her stepmother, Ms. Wicked. Then, when Snow was six, her father died, leaving Snow with her mean stepmom. They were booted out of the castle by a distant heir and Ms. Wicked got a teaching job at Grimm Academy to get by. The third book is written from Snow's point of view. Snow is allergic to all kinds of fruit and she believes in lucky charms. She wears a clover charm around her neck at all times. Like her mother, Snow is good at sewing and would have really liked to have learned from her mother. Snow has a crush on Prince Prince. Her lucky charm is a sliver tiara that can make her invisible.

Boys

Prince Awesome

Prince Awesome is the prince of the Kingdom of Awesomeness, and the prince in Cinderella's story. He is described as a tall boy with wavy hair. He is first introduced in Cinderella Stays Late, where he is the other new kid besides Cinda. He is polite and wants to do what is right. He does not appear to know about E.V.I.L or what they are doing. He is on the masketball and he has a crush on Cinda.

Wolfgang

Wolfgang is the big bad wolf in Little Red Riding Hood's story. He is first shown in Cinderella Stays Late but has more of a major role in Red Riding Hood Gets Lost. Like Red, he likes to act. He plays the second lead role in the school play Peter and the Wolf and the male lead in Red Robin Hood. He can shape-shift into a Wolf. He has a reputation of being kind of a loner, as he is usually alone and hangs out in the Neverwood forest. Wolfgang wants to get into E.V.I.L so he an spy on the members and get information. He later learns that he was denied membership. Wolfgang's greatest fear is to be evil like his uncles. He is described as a boy with brown hair and grey eyes, usually sporting a wolf skin jacket. His great great grandmother is Grandmother Enchantress (whom he calls Grandtress), the sister of the Grimm brothers. Wolfgang has a crush on Red.

Prince Foulsmell

Prince Foulsmell, an unfortunately named student at Grimm Academy, has tousled brown hair, and he smells pretty much just right for a boy. In an effort to fit in with the wrong crowd, Goldilocks is initially rude to Prince Foulsmell and insults him. However, she later befriends him as he plays an important part in Goldilocks' quest to thwart the E.V.I.L society.
