Garrett Charles Nash[1] (born June 16, 1991),[2][3] better known by his stagename gnash,[4] is an American singer, rapper, songwriter, DJ and record producer. He released his debut extended play (EP), u, in March 2015 on SoundCloud. His second EP, titled us, was released in March 2016 and includes the single, "i hate u, i love u" featuring Degandartl and Olivia O'Brien, which has peaked at number 10 on the Billboard Hot 100[5] and reached number one in Australia.[6]

Early life and career

Gnash started DJing at 13 years old. Before writing his own music, he was a DJ for high school dances and parties. He started producing cover songs after college. Gnash is of English and Norwegian descent.[1]

Influences

Gnash has cited Death Cab For Cutie, The Postal Service, and Jack Johnson as his musical influences.[1]
