Gamaliel Audrey Cantika (shortly as GAC) are an Indonesian vocal group from Jakarta. Formed in 2008, the group consists of Gamaliel Tapiheru, Audrey Tapiheru and Cantika Abigail. They already released two studio albums Gamaliel Audrey Cantika and Stronger.

History

The vocal group formed in Jakarta in 2008 and comprised only two siblings Gamaliel Tapiheru and Audrey Tapiheru. They were often uploading some music video to YouTube, such as Taio Cruz' "Break Your Heart", Jason Mraz' "Lucky", Lady Gaga' "Poker Face". Their cover Lady Gaga' "Telephone" was most watched many as 870,524 viewers. Audrey sings while Gamaliel sings with guitar accompaniment.

A later year, Cantika also made music videos and uploaded to YouTube. As she was browsing in the website, she accidentally saw a Gamaliel-Audrey video and felt attracted to joining and asked her management to contact Gamaliel and eventually they joined. After that, the trio then created a cover song Lady Gaga's "Just Dance" and received positive response from the public.[1] Unexpectedly, they were signed to a major recording deal by Sony Music Entertainment Indonesia.

Career

2010–2012: Breakthrough and Gamaliel Audrey Cantika

After contracted by label, they released a debut single "Ingin Putus Saja" on October 2010, which incidentally known to the public. Followed by this debut single, they released a debut album under label, 2012 self-titled name, which marked their involvement in the Indonesian music industry scene.[2] The album produced two singles "Cuma Aku" and "Akuilah Aku". At the 2012 Dahsyatnya Awards, they were subsequently earned an award for Outstanding Narcissist.

2013–present: Stronger

In 2013, they returned covering the video of Justin Timberlake's "Mirrors". The cover video was to be illustrated in one of Best Pop Solo Performance nominees at the 57th Annual Grammy Awards.[3] After this, they released the single "Bahagia" on October 8, 2014, which earned a nomination for Best R&B/Soul Group/Vocal Group at the 18th Annual Anugerah Musik Indonesia. Soon after that, they released a second studio album on May 28, 2015 Stronger which was recorded in Sweden.[4] The album was produced by The Kennel and written by some international songwriters, such as Gustav Efraimsson, Hayley Aitken and Karen Poole.[5] In 2016, the group vocal managed to earn a Band/Group/Duo of the Year award at the 3rd Indonesian Choice Awards.
