Frank Hyde (8 October 1849 – 1937) was a British portrait and figure painter known for his Capri portraits of local model Rosina Ferrara and his friendship with John Singer Sargent.^[1]

Hyde's career started during the Franco-Prussian War of 1870–71 as a war artist. Later he moved to Capri, where he discovered Ferrara and also introduced her to Sargent when he came to Capri in 1878. Sargent painted her at least twelve times during his year's stay in Anacapri.

As of 2000 about 40 different paintings by Hyde were known. Frank designed and built his final residence in England at Stockbury near Maidstone, Kent in 1914 in the arts and crafts style, where he lived out his life. Pett Wood Cottage is in the process of being protected as a "historic building" by Maidstone council. There is a painting of Soldiers at Maidstone Station on display in Maidstone Museum.^[2]
