Fortunair Canada was a short-lived Canadian charter airline which began operations in 1994 created by former Nationair OPS employees, M. Saydoux, ( Syrian born ) was the founder; using a Boeing 747-200 from former Pan Am Airlines aircraft (USA) for charter flights between Montreal and Toronto to Fort Lauderdale, Paris, Nice and other European destinations. Services commenced on 30 June 1994 and by 19 August 1994 the courts had grounded the airline on grounds of illicit financing from former Nationair ( still in bankcruptcy liquidation ) ; the licence was never reinstated, it declared bankcruptcy as well in August 1994, leaving passengers stranded in Mirabel and in France. Fortunair Canada was in financial trouble as the financing for this ops were not clear how it was financed and operations ended on 23 January 1995 legally .
