Albania in the Eurovision Song Contest

Albania participated in the Eurovision Song Contest 2013, held in Malmö, Sweden. The Albanian entry was selected through a national selection "Festivali i Këngës 2012", organised by the Albanian broadcaster Radio Televizioni Shqiptar (RTSH). Adrian Lulgjuraj and Bledar Sejko represented Albania with the song "Identitet", which failed to qualify from the second semi-final of the competition, placing 15th and scoring 31 points.[1][2][3]

Festivali i Këngës 51

On 11 July 2012, RTSH announced their participation in the Eurovision Song Contest 2013 held in Malmö, Sweden. Artists and composers can send in their entries to RTSH on 8–9 October 2012. All songs will be performed in Albanian for the semi-finals and the final.[4]

On 24 September 2012, RTSH announced that the semi-finals will take place on 20 and 21 December 2012 and the final will take place on 22 December 2012.[5]

The song line-ups were announced 2 December 2012. Notably, Anjeza Shahini placed 7th in the Eurovision Song Contest 2004, which was Albania's debut appearance. Also, Kejsi Tola came in 17th overall in the Eurovision Song Contest 2009.[6]

The song "Më ler një ëndërr" performed by Ani Çuedari, which qualified from the second semi-final, was disqualified prior to the final.

At Eurovision

Adrian Lulgjuraj and Bledar Sejko at the second semi-final dress rehearsal in Malmö.

Albania was allocated to compete in the second semi-final on 16 May for a place in the final on 18 May.[7] In the second semifinal, the producers of the show decided that Albania would perform 14th, following Norway and preceding Georgia.[8]

Albania failed to qualify from the second semi-final of the competition, placing 15th and scoring 31 points.[2][3]

In Albania, both the semi-finals and the final were broadcast on TVSH, RTSH Muzikë and Radio Tirana with commentary by Andri Xhahu. The Albanian spokesperson revealing the result of the Albanian vote in the final was Andri Xhahu.
