Faizan Riaz Cheema (born 10 September 1979) is a Pakistani radio and TV host.[1] Independently, Cheema has an M.Phil on molecular genetics and is studying forensic DNA typing.

Early life

Faizan Riaz Cheema was born in Faisalabad, where his father was a professor and head "Department of Veterinary Microbiology" at the University of Agriculture, Faisalabad. At the age of three, Cheema's family moved to Kuwait, where he lived until 1997.

Education

F.Cheema graduated with a Doctor of Veterinary Medicine from the University of Agriculture, Faisalabad in 2001. Cheema conducted his research for M.Phil and Ph.D. on Molecular Genetics at the Centre of Excellence in Molecular Biology, University of the Punjab, Lahore.[2]

Media career

In Pakistan, where the FM radio industry flourished during the 1990s,[3] radio jockeys and presenters started becoming popular among the youth of the country.[4] Cheema followed the trend into radio broadcasting and gained popularity among the listeners in Lahore.

Cheema appeared for the auditions of the radio jockeys talent hunt at a new FM radio channel, and was selected for his versatility, though he had no experience listening to radio channels.

Along with his educational activities, Cheema started his career as a radio jockey and presenter in the beginning of 2004 with FM 89, which was established in 2004, and is a sister company of the Dawn Group of Newspapers.

Cheema later on switched to the newly launched Pakistani station, FM 103,[5] where he was as of 2008.

Television

Cheema's appearances starting from live religious shows on interfaith harmony and "understanding islam", educational science shows "Science Forum" to comic based "Reel Heroes" Crime scene daku dramas i.e. "Khuda Kay Baad" and many a more multifaceted shows helped his fans explore even further about him.[6] and Interfaith Harmony. He also acted in a few TV advertisements including the campaigns of the Punjab Government.

Cheema is a prominent voice-over for radio and TV ads, Radio's fame has taken him to the Television media. Working free lance with a lot of televisions earned him recognition and fame.[7]
