Faiza Saeed is an attorney focusing on the field of mergers & acquisitions. She garnered media attention as the first female "presiding partner" of the prominent law firm of Cravath, Swaine & Moore in July 2016.[1]

Early life and education

Faiza Saeed was born in Walnut Creek, California and is of Pakistani descent. She majored in molecular biology and economics at UC Berkeley, graduating with Highest Distinction and Phi Beta Kappa in 1987, then attended Harvard Law School graduating magna cum laude[2] in 1991.

Career

Saeed joined Cravath in 1991 and become a partner in the firm in 1998. Ms. Saeed is known for her close relationships with such industry titans as Jeff Bewkes, Howard Schultz and Jeffrey Katzenberg, the chief executives of Time Warner Inc., Starbucks Corp. and DreamWorks Animation, respectively. Other clients including Morgan Stanley and Hasbro Inc.[3]

Upon being elected presiding partner at white shoe firm Cravath, Saeed received considerable media attention. According to the Wall Street Journal, "Ms. Saeed is the first woman to lead Cravath, which traces its origins to 1819. She is also one of few women to lead a New York law firm, a group that also includes Hughes Hubbard & Reed LLP chairwoman Candace Beinecke and former Fried, Frank, Harris, Shriver & Jacobson LLP head Valerie Ford Jacob..."[4]
