David Monteith

David Robert Malvern Monteith (born 5 June 1968) is a Church of England priest. He has been Dean of Leicester since 2013.[1]

Early life

Monteith was born on 5 June 1968 in Enniskillen, Northern Ireland.[2] He was educated at Portora Royal School, a grammar school in Enniskillen.[2] He studied at St John's College Durham, and graduated from the University of Durham with a Bachelor of Science (BSc) degree in 1989.[3]

In 1990, Monteith entered St John's College, Nottingham, an Anglican theological college, to train for ordained ministry. During this time, he also studied theology at the University of Nottingham, and graduated with a Bachelor of Theology (BTh) degree in 1992.[3]

Ordained ministry

He was ordained in 1994.[4] After a curacy at All Saints’, Kings Heath he joined the staff of St Martin-in-the-Fields in 1997. He was Priest in charge of Holy Trinity, Wimbledon from 2002 to 2009 and Canon Chancellor of Leicester Cathedral from 2009 until his appointment as Dean.
