Cut is a 2000 Australian comedy horror film, which was directed by Kimble Rendall and stars Kylie Minogue, Molly Ringwald and Tiriel Mora.[1]
Plot
Fed up with Brad's (Frank Roberts) on-screen antagonist's foul-ups, his director, Hilary Jacobs (Kylie Minogue), publicly humiliates him and fires him on the spot in front of onlookers. Her further degrading of him (as he comes hoping for one more chance) in her office causes Brad to snap, mutilating himself before cutting out her tongue using the modified prop shears as his real-life signature weapon. Before he could harm anyone else, his co-star Vanessa Turnbill (Molly Ringwald) gives him a makeshift tracheotomy which ends in Brad being seemingly electrocuted as P.A. man Lossman (Geoff Revell) looks on. But as Brad dies it seems he curses the source of his misery: Hot Blooded and all who would work on it. Now in present-day Australia, Lossman is a teacher using his personal experiences as warnings to his students that any attempts to complete filming or even screening of Hot Blooded! has ended up with lives being lost in mysterious and disturbing ways (like a producer being suspiciously electrocuted in an editing room or a director discovered with his throat slit). But some of his pupils decide such a chance is too much of a temptation and despite his better wishes they decide to try to finish the film as a graduation grade. They contact Vanessa Turnbill to co-star; she is persuaded by her agent to go back to Australia; when she arrives at the airport she is greeted by crew members Hallie and Rocky who take her to a press conference to give the film publicity; while being interviewed a local reporter asks Vanessa if she is worried about the curse on the film, she passes off the question with a joke saying that "Oh if I die, I get paid extra".
On the first day on filming, Brad arrives and decapitates actor Harold Rosen. Lossman's girlfriend Rosanna is revealed to be cheating on him with the school janitor Toby, and Brad impales both while they are having sex. While actor Greg Promenade, who is playing the villain, is getting ready, Brad bludgeons him and steals his costume. Brad, pretending to be Greg, arrives on set and kills actor Tom Gerry, although the crew members think it's fake. Crew members Rod and John find the bodies while Brad is killing John's boyfriend Arnold. They show the bodies to Vanessa in an attempt to warn her, but she mistakenly thinks that they are going to kill her and flees. Brad then corners Vanessa and stabs her to death before also killing the remaining actors, Glenn Simon and Ruby Lee. Rod and John round up the remaining crew members while Lossman finds Vanessa's body and is killed with Brad's scissors to the back of his head. Crew members Stephen and Trey are also killed.
Rod and John plus the remaining crew members (Hallie, Rocky, Louise, Elliott and Brianna) try to find a way out, but discover they are trapped. John leads Louise and Brianna up an elevator shaft to try and escape, but Brad cuts the elevator loose and it falls and crushes them dead. Rod, Hallie, Aaron and Rocky try to hide in Greg's dressing room and discover a badly beaten but still alive Greg inside. Brad then enters and kills Rocky by stabbing her in the back. Brad reveals that he plans to employ the "final girl" trope and lets Hallie go so she can be the sole survivor. However, Elliott, bitter that she will survive, reveals that "Hallie" is just a nickname and her full name is Hillary. Brad is triggered by this and rips out Hallie's tongue before brutally eviscerating Elliott. An angry Brad then ties up Rod and Greg and sets the whole building on fire. However, Rod and Greg manage to escape out a window before the building collapses. They witness Brad walking down the street and disappearing before the movie ends.
