Love Me, If You Dare, previously known as Close Your Eyes and Close To Me, is a romance-suspense drama series presented by SOHU TV,[1] Shandong Film & TV Group, SMG Pictures [2] and Dongyangzhengwu Film. The drama was adapted from Ding Mo's(Chinese: 丁墨; pinyin: Ding Mo) novel published in July 2014. It was produced by Kong Sheng and Hou Hongliang, with the screenplay by Hai Yan. The production of this series was started on 22 May 2015, starring Wallace Huo, Sandra Ma, Edward Zhang, Wang Kai, Zhang Lingzhi and Andrew Yin.[3]

This drama series is about the romantic relationship between a criminal psychologist, Professor Simon Bo (Wallace Huo) and his assistant Jenny/Jian Yao (Sandra Ma), while they work on solving some mysterious and violent criminal cases. They study of the motives, thoughts, intentions and reactions of criminals to resolve the cases. As the story progresses, it becomes more obvious that there is someone out to get Simon, someone who is keeping an eye on him, someone who is connected to his past. The series premiered simultaneously online on Sohu TV, and on air on Dragon Television, on 15 October 2015.

Storyline

Love Me, If You Dare[4] is a romance story with thrilling plots in the criminal investigation. The intriguing criminal cases and interesting plot of the drama series will captivate and bring thrills to the audiences and take them along step by step in cracking the criminal minds. Simon/Jin Yan is a criminal psychologist who returns to China from the US after a close encounter with a serial killer, but his ordeal is not over. His past catches up to him and all the intriguing truths unravel as the story continues. Will he win and return safely home or will he fall into the trap of his past? Can love heal the wounds of this protagonist?

Wallace Huo Male, age 30. He is a criminal psychologist, the youngest visiting professor of the University of Maryland (US). He works as an analyst/advisor for the serious criminal cases in the police department. He lost his father at an early age and moved to the United States with his mother. He has a high IQ but low EQ, and this dramatic contrast adds a lot of humour and emotion.
Jenny Jian Yao

Ma Sichun Female, age 23. She graduated from the University of Foreign Languages. She is deeply influenced by her father, a veteran police officer of criminal investigations who died on duty. She has a great sense of justice and is very observant. She works as Simon's assistant and his translator, and ends up helping Simon in the criminal investigation.

谢晗
Edward Zhang Male, age 30. He is the son of a rich American businessman. His parents were divorced when he was young and he was abandoned with his alcoholic father, who later abused him violently. He is smart and was a literature student at Princeton University. However, due to his distorted personality, he was expelled from the school before he could finish his studies.

Wang Kai Male, age 28. Li grew up with Jenny and he is from a police family too. He has become a policeman and is an excellent shooter, and is knowledgeable in handling weapons. He is tough, talented, and an outstanding policeman.
Kris Fu Ziyu

Andrew Yin Male, age 30. Kris graduated from School of Medicine, University of Maryland, and is known as an outstanding medical student as well as being extremely proficient in software design and coding. He is tall, gentle, smart, and is the only friend of Simon, willing to help Simon and stay with him whenever he needs.

20 July 2013: Ding Mo's novel Love Me, If You Dare, published in July 2014, was well known with its romance and mystery plots.

22 August 2014: Shangdong TV & Films announced the investment and drama series shooting plan of Ding Mo's novel Close Your Eyes, Stay Close To Me.

24 April 2015: The official Weibo announced the casting of the series' leading character, Wallace Huo playing Simon Bo, a genius in criminal psychology. This was the second collaboration between Wallace Ho and SDTV production team after the highly acclaimed drama series Battle of ChangSha, which aired in July 2014.

14 May 2015: An official announcement revealed that actress Ma SiChun would be starring as Jenny Jian in this drama series. The cast of the remaining six important roles were announced on the same day.

11 August 2015: The production of this drama series was wrapped up in New York City with scenes featuring the leading characters Bo and Jian.

11 September 2015: The first trailer was revealed online on Sohu TV with the announcement of a 15 October 2015 premiere date. It was announced that Sohu TV and Dragon Television would be airing the drama series simultaneously for the first time.
