Cleyon Laing (born November 25, 1990) is a gridiron football defensive end for the Ottawa Redblacks of the Canadian Football League. He was selected ninth overall by the Toronto Argonauts in the 2012 CFL Draft, but finished his college eligibility before signing with the team on May 15, 2013.[1] He played college football with the Iowa State Cyclones. He has also been a member of the Miami Dolphins of the National Football League (NFL).

Professional career

Toronto Argonauts

Laing was selected 9th overall in the 2012 CFL Draft by the Toronto Argonauts. He played for the Argonauts for 3 seasons finishing his stint with 72 tackles, 16 sacks, 2 forced fumbles and a safety. After his great performance in the CFL he draw attention of many NFL teams.

Miami Dolphins

On February 29, 2016 Laing was signed by the Miami Dolphins of the NFL.[2] On September 3, 2016, he was released by the Dolphins as part of final roster cuts.[3] The next day he was signed to the Dolphins' practice squad.[4] He was released on October 31, 2016.[5]

Ottawa Redblacks

Three days after his release from the Dolphins practice roster he was signed by the Ottawa Redblacks of the Canadian Football League, just days before their final game of the regular season.[6]
