Chloe Bennet (born Chloe Wang; April 18, 1992)[3] is an American actress. She is known for her role as Daisy Johnson (formerly known as Skye) in the ABC spy-fi series Marvel's Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.

Early life

Bennet was born in Chicago, Illinois,[3][4] the daughter of Stephanie, an internist, and Bennet Wang,[5] an investment banker.[6] Her father is Chinese American.[3] She has six brothers: three biological, two foster, and one adopted. Two of her adopted brothers are African American and one is Mexican-Filipino.[5] She attended St. Ignatius College Prep.[5] At 15, she moved to China to pursue a singing career,[6] under the name Chloe Wang (汪可盈).[2]

Career

While in China, Bennet lived with her Shanghainese paternal grandmother in Shanghai,[3] and studied Mandarin.[6] She released her debut single "Uh Oh" in both English and Mandarin, followed by "Every Day In Between" solely in English. She then moved to Los Angeles, California.[6] Her first on-screen appearance was as a host for the short-lived TeenNick summer dance series The Nightlife. She appeared in the 2011 music video for South Korean band BIGBANG's extended play musical recording Tonight.

While pursuing an acting career in Hollywood, she changed her name to "Chloe Bennet", after having trouble booking gigs with her last name.[7]

From 2012 to 2013 Bennet played a recurring supporting role in the ABC drama series Nashville as Hailey.[8]

In December 2012, Bennet was cast as a series regular on the ABC series Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.[8][9][10] which premiered on September 24, 2013, where she portrays the character Daisy "Skye" Johnson / Quake.[11]
