Charles Randolph is an American screenwriter and producer for film and television. Randolph has written screenplays for several films and TV movies including The Life of David Gale (2003), The Interpreter (2005), and Love & Other Drugs (2010). Randolph received the Golden Globe Award for Best Screenplay, BAFTA Award for Best Adapted Screenplay and Academy Award for Best Adapted Screenplay for co-writing The Big Short in 2015.[2]
Randolph was born in Nashville, Tennessee. He was a cultural studies[3] and philosophy professor.[1] At age 33, Randolph spent a weekend in Los Angeles giving lectures at the University of Southern California. From a chance meeting with someone who worked for the Farrelly brothers, Randolph was inspired to attempt screenwriting.[3]
Randolph is married to Israeli actress Mili Avital, with whom he has two children.
